History of Bella’s Babbles Name

unnamed

In a continued effort to add some variety to this blog I have been reading a bit about ways to enhance the blogging experience.  While I was reading I came across a suggestion to share about the name of your blog.  This caught my interest, and I was like, “I can do this!”

Not long into the thinking progress I realized that I do not know all elements of my blog name. (Insert confusion here…)

The name of my blog is Bella’s Babbles. www.bellasbabbles.com

Yet, my name is not Bella.  My name is no where close to Bella, it’s actually Michelle.

As for the babbles, well yes, I babble often and have been babbling since birth.

Until recently, I have had no clue why my mom has been calling me Belle for years.  I love it don’t get me wrong, but just no idea.  Hearing her call me Belle makes me smile every single time.  However I don’t know the history behind the name and why it is my nickname.

I asked my mom about the name Belle and the history behind the name.  Turns out it goes back to a 60’s Beatles song.  The song is “Michelle” and it is a song that my mom used to sing to me when I was young.  Excerpts from the song are below:

…Michelle, ma belle…

I love you, I love you, I love you

That’s all I want to say

Until I find a way

I will say the only words I know that

You’ll understand

Michelle, ma belle
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble
Très bien ensemble

(Translation: My beautiful Michelle are words that go very well together very good together)

She continued to tell me that Bella means beautiful in Italian.  My mom has always spoken uplifting and edifying words to me and my brothers.  She said that her desire was for me to believe deep within my heart, that I am beautiful.

There are days when I catch a glimpse of my reflection in a mirror or window and I see the beautiful soul that my mom taught me was more valuable than gold.

I love being her Belle.
